Aladdin: so im gonna start off with showing the trailers, and mentioning that this isn’t a bad film its good…I just have 2 problems with this film….

So anyways the plot is, well a homeless man named Aladdin….played by Mena Massoud……and his money Abu…..live on the streets of agrobah….(sorry if I Butcher alot of these names)……so anyways one day they bump into a woman named Jasmine (played by Naomi Scott)….she’s wearing robe…to hide that she’s the queen…so she can sneak around the city….skiping a bit because alot of u know the story…..this film has great soundtrack and singing….so anyways we get introduced to the villain named Jafar (played by Marwan Kenzari)….BTW hes one of the reasons I don’t like this film…..he looks nothing like Jafar…..in the original film….he was a creepy looking middle aged dude…with a curly long goatee…..in this film he looks like a 40 something year old guy, who be some girls would fall over heels for him……im sorry but this just doesn’t look like Jafar….and his performance doesn’t capture the same feeling of Jafar from the original film….so I was disappointed with this casting choice….. so anyways u know how it goes…..Jafar asks Aladdin to get him the lamp…thats located in the cave of wonders….so Aladdin goes there….its located in the desert…..so he and Abu goes in the cave…..he gets the lamp, and they meet a magic carpet….Abu touches a gem…no one aloud to touch anything besides the lamp…so Abu touches something and that makes the cave start filling up with lava…….so they make it to the front of the cave…..Aladdin is hanging on the edge of a cliff……he gives Jafar the lamp….Aladdin asks him to give him his hand…Jafar says how about my foot……….😑😑😑…..how about my foot?……..I hate this……its hard to explain why……so anyways in the cave…Aladdin rubs the lamp and Genie comes out of it played by Will Smith…..actually ill admit this was a good casting choice….and this is my favorite scene
Anyway after this skipping a bit they get out of the cave,  Aladdin makes his first wish…he wishes to become a prince to impress Jasmine….so tada now genie makes him into a prince…which leads to my other favorite scene
So anyways so prince Ali…which the name Aladdin is going by is allowed in the castle….so he tries to impress the princess,  but she doesn’t want to marry someone…she wants to be in charge of castle……anyways so later on Jafar starts getting weary about prince Ali…..he knows is Aladdin…..so he tries killing Aladdin by having his guards ross him into the ocean…..so after genie saves Aladdin…..all goes well…because Aladdin tells the  Salton that Jafar is bad guy and he’s been using his snake staff to brain wash him…to convince him to attack a city….they lock Jafar up…but he escapes….grabs the lamp…..and now genie is his servant…..now he owes Jafar 3 wishes….so Jafar wishes to be a Salton…..and he tris to marry Jasmine……ewwww…..anyways Aladdin saves the day….he tricks him into wishing to become a genie……so yeah he wishes for that….he becomes a genie and he gets sent into a lamp….and the day is saved…film ends with Jasmine and Aladdin u know get married im assuming…..and genie and Jasmine handmade get Married….right forget to mention there’s a side plot in this where the handmade falls in love with genie……oh joy….😑……so anyways this film ends with a dance sequence….I actually liked this scene….anyways the end…..ok so my rating, I honestly think this film is a good remake. Not as good as the original film…..but I mean what do u expect….um gonna give this film a solid 8.6/10

Lion King: ok so this review is gonna be different….im gonna give a brief summary,  then I’m gonna tell u all what this film is based off of if none of u know…then I’m going to go through the major differences in this film compared to the original……spoiler alert….the changes in this live action remake are horrible….ill start with a trailer…..

• so anyways the plot….well the plot is….a king named Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones)…..has a son named Simba…..oh and he has a totally not evil brother named Scar…( voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor)….now right off with that said….I can safely say I hate this voice casting for scar….he sounds nothing like scar from the original…..I mean no hate to the actor….but he is no Jeremy Irons…..yeah Jeremy Irons voiced Scar in the original film….so anyways one day Scar tricks Simba into standing in a place while a horde of stampede start running towards him….which gets Mufasa to go save his son….yes he saves his son….Mufasa trues climbing up the side of the mountain but scar is up there and he punches Mufasa in the face ….he falls to his death…..yes u heard that right he slapped Mufasa in the face….🤣🤣….im sorry I can’t take this seriously….I know it’s supposed to be an emotional scene….heck the original film did a far better job at this scene…….so anyways u know how it goes…..Simba runs away, he bumps into Timon and Pumba…..many years pass….Simba has learned the simple life…one day his old friend named Nala (voiced by ….what the firck?….Beyonce?…..the hell….ok um yeah she’s voiced by Beyonce in this film)….oh and simba is voiced by Donald Glover…..sure ok…ill admit it’s good they got African American actors to voice characters that probably live in Africa…im assuming thats the location in this film……so anyways she tries getting simba to come back and take his place as kind….basically overthrow Scar because ever since he’s been king….the lands have been dying……yikes……he refuses….but 5 min later he gets a pep talk from his dead dad in the sky….ok then…..so then he heads to overthrow scar……battle happens……it ends with Simba killing Scar….well let me rephrase that he pushes Scar off the cliff…but his  Hyenas eat him…..so happy ending……so yeah thats the plot….basically if u seen the original film…u know the plot of this film…..the only difference is this is a little over 2 hour film…don’t ask why….oh also this film and the original film is based on Hamlet……yeah….I wish I was kidding…..but lion King is based on Hamlet……if any of u didn’t known that….then….ur welcome 😋

• so let’s talk about the differences i hate….well first off this film butchered my favorite song…called be prepared…..it was a song that scar sung…and my god this film butchered it….he doesn’t even sing the song…he just spurts out words….meaning it’s less of him singing and more of talk singing……how lovely…..

• my other complaint is the song can u feel the love tonight…….no I cant…because 5his film has that song sung in broad daylight…..🤦‍♂️…..congrats Disney u had one job….its in the title….feel love tonight…..its not….can u feel the love today in the afternoon…..😑…..I think its obvious why I don’t like this film….so anyways I despise this film….oh and the Animals in this film don’t have any expression on there faces…..yet the animals did in jungle Book…..so this has no excuse…..oh right the director said he wanted to make this realistic……oh yeah nothing says realistic like talking animals….😑🤦‍♂️….im giving this film a solid 4.6/10

TwitterFacebookLinkedinPrintemailA WEEKLY TORAH THOUGHT FROM RABBI MORDY I’m going to deviate a bit from this week’s Parsha (Vayikra) to talk about Purim. Especially since the Fast of Esther was yesterday and we’re all in the Purim spirit. To give a quick refresher on the story: Achashverosh was the King of Persia who had his wife killed and replaced her with… Read More

Plenty of Nothing

TwitterFacebookLinkedinPrintemailA WEEKLY TORAH THOUGHT FROM RABBI MORDY I’ve got nothing. So this week I’m in a bit of a conundrum. There is lots going on from a Jewish perspective (we conclude the Book of Exodus, we are about a week away from Purim) and the Parsha – Pekudei – is pretty repetitious. A few weeks ago, Moses is commanded by… Read More
